Book Haul July 20161 min read

July, the month of my birthday, has gone really fast. So here I am, one year older, and many books richer.

Let’s start with this amazing graphic adaptation of one of my favorite short stories by Neil Gaiman, How To Talk To Girls At Parties.

And of course some more Neil Gaiman goodies… Including The Sleeper And The Spindle, and Neil Gaiman/Chris Riddell 3-Book Box Set: Coraline; The Graveyard Book; Fortunately, the Milk. So my TBR got (even) bigger, and my shelves prettier.

Then, my birthday came, and as I have mentioned already before, my boyfriend gave me this amazing gift: The four whole volumes of The Sandman, the annotated version – which is amazing by the way. I couldn’t recommend it enough, as a reread of course.

Still, for my birthday, I had the loveliest surprise from Lucky Dip Books – the book blind date service I have recently tried. I was so touched that they had sent me this lovely gift specially for my birthday and I’ll be sure to order again from them. Guys, this service is amazing, I recommend it to anyone who wants a little mystery book in their mail boxes, chosen, wrapped and sent with love. So this was the book I got, The City’s Son by Tom Pollock.

And here’s more graphic novels, including Monstress, and The Books of Magic.

Review copies wise, I got this lovely autographed copy of The Dragon’s Blade by Michael R. Miller, which I thought was incredibly thoughtful. This book will now accompany me during my train trips, in hopes I can get to finish it and review it ASAP.

Let me know what you have added to your shelves this month of July!

Great haul and looks like they are really good books especially in your genre of choice. As for me, I don't have new books. I am still on couple of leadership books that I am trying to master, meaning, read one chapter and apply for at least a month or more until it becomes a habit.

I’ll be adding Harry Potter and the Cursed Child soon. I asked my sister to buy it for me because I’m currently on bed rest as per advised by my OB. You got a lot of books for July. I also love collecting books but I stopped purchasing until we can transfer to a new house. We are currently renting right now and it adds so much to the space. Once we got a new home, I will really dedicate an area of book shelf in the house for all my books.

I feel the same, I wish I had more space to store all my books; I am running out of shelves, but me and my boyfriend will be moving to a bigger flat soon:) And, Aww, that’s a great choice! It’s half price on Waterstones :

I love getting books as gifts! I also like giving books as gifts to family and friends. They say that reading is the cheapest way to experience new places and cultures. Happy birthday and enjoy your new books!

It’s been a long time since I’ve read books on this genre. How ironic now that when I already have the money to buy books that I want, I don’t have time anymore. I’ve long since shifted to reading blogs and watching Youtube videos. If I get some time, I’ll take note of these books so I can try some of them. Thanks for sharing.

A day after I left a comment saying how I have not gotten new books, this is what happened. As it is, I won a new tablet from our batch reunion. So while trying it out, I decided to download couple of books published by Simon and Schuster and well, because they’re free on Play Store and because they were classics!

I have been on the Apple ecosystem for several years and this is really the first time I have downloaded content from the Android ecosystem and I got myself The Invicible Man and The War of the Worlds, both by H.G. Wells.

At night, I watch YouTube videos, mostly news before I sleep. For the coming nights, I will be reading these two books. Surprisingly, I haven’t read them at all in my life.

That’s a lot of books! I love books too but I have a problem finishing all of them because of my busy sched. Just have to learn how to manage my time well. Hopefully, I get the habit of reading atleast 1 chapter a day just so I can finish all of them.

It’s good to see a full post of yours and book haul is a great feature. We have to find new ways to store the books, the shelves are full already and we havn’t finished! Haha. I’m really happy that you enjoyed the Sandman Annotations. I can’t wait to read Monstress and “How to talk to girls at parties” since you recommended me this one 🙂

These are a lot of books. That’s awesome. I should have read more in july! I have an e-book subscription service which gives me 10 ebooks a month So yesterday, I received 10 new ones. So enough choice to start reading! I think I’ll start with a book of Rebecca Yarros. The sleeper and the spindle looks awesome by the way! Curious for your review on the dragons blade.

nice catch of books. As for me I have books that are more into motivation and leadership and oh some fictions as well. I read when I have time because I have hectic schedule from work and blogging 🙂

I really admire people who have so much passion towards reading. Only if I am that passionate towards reading, I’ll surely be hauling books monthly just like you!

I haven’t read any of those books yet but I gotta say I’m impressed to see some Neil Gaiman there. He’s one of my favorite authors. His imagination is pure genius. I’d love to pick up some of those books myself, especially Sandman. One of my friends loved it. Belated happy birthday by the way!

  12. Stella the Travelerette on August 11, 2016 at 3:06 pm

Ooh! You got a big haul! I am also a Neil Gaiman fan–the last book of his I read was The Graveyard Book. In July I bought the new Detective Conan manga (aka Case Closed), a travel book called A Year in Provence, and a history book about Atlantic City called Boardwalk Empire. They based the HBO series with Steve Buscemi on this book. I feel like I’ve been reading a lot more nonfiction than fiction so I need to find some new fiction books to read.

Your post reminds me of the Book Sale that’s happening right now near our place. I’ve been wanting to go and get some books for me and my son. I have to admit I’m not a great reader like you but every once in a while, I read books that I like. 🙂
