Hooked – Allen Wolf2 min read

Desperate to find a soulmate in New York City, Shawn experiences one awkward date after another until he encounters the alluring Violet. He asks her out, but his autism prevents him from understanding she’s actually a prostitute.

Drawn in by his kindness, Violet appreciates Shawn’s quirky nature but conceals what she does after dark. Shawn soon imagines Violet could be his perfect wife while Violet thinks Shawn could be her ticket to a new life.

This comedic tale of two misfits takes a dramatic turn when they face an unexpected crisis. Their only hope for a future is to discover the courage that comes from loving someone deeply.

I was offered a free copy of this book via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit that this story was highly entertaining and engaging. Due to it being reasonably fast-paced, it is very easy to read, even if it a little obvious that the novel was adapted from a screenplay.

The concept allows the story to not only be funny and quirky, but also to explore more serious / deeper topics. I can promise you that, regardless of how predictable some parts might be, it will still melt your heart!
The writing style is pretty short and sweet. It was confusing at first to be “hearing” everyone’s thoughts at the same time, which was one of the main reasons that the novel ends up feeling more like a script than an actual book. The dialog is very strong, though, which makes up for the rest. I have connected to the characters thanks to great dialog’s lines – also, many would make great quotes.
Last but not least, you’ll be happy to know that 10% of proceeds from the sales of this heartwarming story are donated to organizations fighting human trafficking.

This sounds like a really interesting concept! The blurb reminds me a little bit of The Rosie Project.

I haven’t read The Rosie Project but I’ve heard about it, and in some of the Hooked’s reviews, they did mention that if you have enjoyed The Rosie Project, you might like this one too.

Did they? I think I might get it for real then, because I LOVE The Rosie Project! Do pick that book up if you haven’t yet; it’s honestly one of the most unique contemporary romance/realistic fiction I’ve ever read.

I have just added to my list of books I want to buy and read eventually. I was already curious about it, and the fact you have mentioned it, helped:)
